Flower Farm Assistant

Part Time Hourly Position: ~16hrs/week, Thursday - Sunday, work hours are flexible, but must account for prime harvesting hours and prime selling times. Available immediately thru 10/31/23. Starting pay is $14/hr.


Experience: Experience with flower growing, harvesting and bouquet-making is preferred, but not required.


About us: We are a small, family-run business that grows flowers organically at our two residences in Carrboro. We have several flower stands throughout Carrboro and this is our main method of selling. We started in 2019 and have grown year over year since then.

Location: We have three stands in Carrboro that will need to be managed throughout the shift. Ideally you are based in Carrboro.


Vehicle: You must have your own vehicle for visiting our three stands and moving between our two properties (all of these locations are within a mile of one another). There will be a $15 stipend per week to account for travel costs.


Responsibilities: 

  • Harvesting
  • Bouquet making
  • Visiting 3 stands in Carrboro several times throughout each shift to restock with flowers (flowers are sold on honor-basis, assistant will not be attending the stands or handling retail transactions)
  • Physical farm-related tasks
    • Preparing beds & weeding
    • Seeding and planting
    • Washing trays and buckets
    • Fertilizing/pest control


Candidate Qualifications:

  • Passionate about local community, flowers and the environment
  • Eye for detail and beauty
  • Suggests ways to optimize systems and processes
  • Physically able to walk, stand, bend, stretch, and squat for extended periods of time and in less than ideal weather conditions
  • Positive attitude and willing to learn from mistakes
  • Must be an effective communicator both verbally and in writing
  • Must be able to think creatively and problem solve
  • Must be able to work equally well with others and alone
  • Must wear appropriate clothing and shoes/boots
  • Construction and/or experience building things would be ideal
  • People of Color, queer, and/or gender non-conforming encouraged to apply
